PRIVACY POLICY

Effective date: October 15, 2026

Hate Free Colorado (“Hate Free Colorado,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit hatefreeco.org (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

If you are in danger or need emergency help, call 911. This website and its contact form are not monitored around the clock and are not a way to report a crime to law enforcement.

1. Who We Are

Hate Free Colorado is a coalition of community, civil rights, and advocacy organizations working with law enforcement partners to counter hate crimes in Colorado. For questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected] or (720) 799-9680.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. If you email or call us, we receive the information you share in that communication.

Sensitive information

Because of the nature of our work, a message to us may describe an incident or reveal sensitive information, such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, disability, or sexual orientation. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing and what is needed for us to respond. By including sensitive information in a message, you consent to our using it for the limited purpose of responding to you.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and security services automatically process technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you request, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and protect it from spam, abuse, and attacks.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or visitor-tracking tools on this Site. For details on the small number of cookies the Site does use, see our Cookie Policy.

3. How We Use Information

  • To read and respond to your messages and requests
  • To connect you with resources or coalition partners, if you ask us to
  • To operate, maintain, and secure the Site, including preventing spam and fraudulent form submissions
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With your permission. If you ask us to connect you with a coalition member organization, victim services provider, or law enforcement agency, we will share only what is needed to do so. We will not share your message with law enforcement without your permission unless required by law.
  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host and operate the Site, and they process information on our behalf: Amazon Web Services (website hosting and email delivery), Cloudflare (content delivery and security), Google reCAPTCHA (spam protection on our contact form), and website security software that analyzes traffic to block attacks.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect someone’s safety.

5. Google reCAPTCHA

Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to tell people apart from automated spam. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

6. Data Retention

We keep contact form submissions and correspondence only as long as needed to respond to you and for reasonable recordkeeping, and then delete them. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes. You may ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, firewalls, and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending information by email or web form that you would not want disclosed if intercepted.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You may contact us at any time to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live, including under the Colorado Privacy Act, you may have additional rights. We will respond to verifiable requests within the time required by applicable law. To make a request, email [email protected].

You can review or change your cookie choices at any time: Cookie Settings.

9. Links to Other Websites

Our Site links to coalition partners, government agencies, victim services, and other organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Children’s Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
